SuperChef Chennai Food Carnival – Feb 21, 2016

 

SuperChef Chennai Food Carnival would be the fourth season of the highly successful event created by Ladies Circle 38 in collaboration with Round Table 94.  Round table and Ladies Circle are non profit organisations engaged in community service in healthcare and education. SuperChef Chennai is one of their most successful fundraisers and in 2016 the event aims to raise aid for long term rehabilitation of Chennai Flood victims as well as to support their long term health and education projects.

This year, for the first time, as a lead up to the super chef event, they are planning the SuperChef Chennai Food Carnival on 21st February. To be held at a spacious, outdoor, central venue in the city, The SuperChef Chennai Food Carnival is going to be a semi-exclusive offering of out-of-the-box food vendors to Chennai foodies. There will be approximately 30-35 food stalls and 10-15 non food stalls, with sufficient seating capacity for eating. There will be,

  • International Cuisine (10 stalls)
  • Home cooks (10 stalls)
  • Local Out of the box food vendors (10 stalls)

The event organizers promise that the Chennai’s food lovers would be witnessing a tantalizing treat of exotic food from across the world, ranging from Malaysian Nasi Degang andThai Tom Kha Kai, to Australian barbeque, Japanese Ramen and Swedish kladdkaka cakes. And all this in addition to the old favorites with a twist from a small town mess, as well as Parsi and Burmese caterers. Do not miss it!

SuperChef Contest details:

The food carnival precedes the two-day, high profile, cooking competition slated for the weekend of February 27 & 28, 2016.

SuperChef Chennai 2016 is a city-wide cooking competition for amateurs and semi-professional cooks. The contest includes four categories for cooks to display their culinary skill. The general categories (individual and team) are open to men, women and children (aged above 15) with a passion for cooking. The Junior SuperChef category is open to children aged 10-14 years. In addition, in order to raise the bar, drama and excitement in the SuperChef kitchen, this year’s event will feature a new category for semi-professionals, i.e. culinary students or chefs-in-training.
The contestants are invited to win the hearts of the judges with their pre-cooked specialty dish at the preliminary round on 27th February at The Park Hotels, Chennai. Twelve finalists from each of the four categories will then be put to the ultimate test of cooking live on February 28th, 2016, with their ardent supporters cheering on! The live cook-off round will throw open a surprise ingredient box, and a SuperChef pantry with undisclosed contents, all in front of the media’s and the celebrity judges’ watchful eyes. The creator of the most original and creative dish, that succeeds in impressing the celebrity judges, will win the coveted title of SuperChef Chennai 2016. Entrusted with the difficult task of judging are the esteemed and accredited panel of judges, comprising The Park’s Chef Rajesh and team, along with the celebrity chefs such as Chef Vicky Ratnani of NDTV Good Times and Chef Sanjay Thumma of ‘Vahrevah’ fame.
